Job Description

Tremco's Commercial Sealants and Waterproofing (CS&W) division is seeking a Field Technical Representative. The Field Technical Representative supports proper application of CS&W products, meeting company and industry guidelines by providing remote and on-site Technical Support or assistance to Distributors, Applicators, Contractors, Chemists, Engineers, Sales and Customer Service.


  • Visit job sites as required prior to, during and post-construction to review application integrity, general safety and conformance to manufacturer requirements, project specifications and governing codes. Review and interpret site specifications or construction methods to ensure compliance with application specifications.
  • Monitor product quality to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.Ensure that product/material installation is performed properly and complies with applicable construction project guidelines.
  • Maintain job site logs and records with photographs if appropriate.
  • Compile and interpret results of tests and analysis. Write technical reports or prepare graphs or charts to document product performance.
  • Visit job sites to obtain and assemble data to compile measurements for analysis.
  • Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Review the substrates, materials and the application of the materials to identify deficiencies, anomalies or potential problems that may negatively impact the performance of the product.
  • Use relevant information and individual judgement to determine whether designs or applications comply with local codes, industry standards and regulations.
  • Provide live and/or web-based training for internal staff and/or external customers. Create instructional hands-on demonstrations in a classroom, distributor locations or job site settings showing application of products. Exercise clear and confident communication of product lines and construction practices during presentation delivery.
  • Draft, modify, and review technical drawings using computer aided drafting (CAD) software and/or programs such as Bluebeam, Autodesk or Adobe.
  • Determine procedures and instructions to be followed, per design specifications and quantity of required materials.
  • Keep up-to-date technically on practical procedures, and specialized techniques to apply new knowledge within the CS&W field.
  • Track and validate product-related complaints.
  • Review drawings and specifications with Architects and Consultants.


  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • A Bachelor's of Science (BS) in Chemistry, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Technology with a Math and Science background, Construction Management or similar preferred.


  • In lieu of a BS, a minimum of 2-3 years related experience required.
  • Minimum one year of related work experience (Commercial Construction, Drafting, Architecture, Manufacturing or similar) with a BS.
  • Auto CAD - 2-D and 3-D CAD design experience preferred.


  • ​10 Hour OSHA Training course in Construction Safety and Health Certified preferred.
  • LEED GA Certification preferred.
  • Participation in industry associations such as RCI, CSI, ASTM, ACI, ICRI is preferred.

  • Building and Construction knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the Construction or Restoration of buildings or other structures.

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Knowledge of chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations they undergo. This includes chemistry of current and future products and systems.
  • Customer Service skills, including needs assessments and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% within assigned region. Travel may be on short notice with overnight stays.
  • Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate fluently in Spanish preferred.


  • Commitment and active engagement in Continuing Educational Unit and other programs to maintain industry knowledge as current and keep pace with evolving industry and local/regional market trends.
