Tremco's Commercial Sealants and Waterproofing division is seeking a Research and Development Group Leader - Technical Service and Operations Support specific to the Dryvit product line. The Group Leader is responsible for all projects and activities related to production disruptions, field complaints, products line extensions, color management and raw material management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all R&D projects relating to product line maintenance and sustainability in support of Dryvit’s existing and future product lines.
  • Oversee the formulation management, maintenance and validation as well as the performance specification and testing aspects of all commercial product designs.
  • Lead critical laboratory project activity to drive a technical culture of robust product design and experimental practices.
  • Design and execute experiments to evaluate and optimize the performance attributes of commercial technologies.
  • Execute data analysis and interpretation in support of project and product problem solving.
  • Develop an understanding of process capability, design selection criteria, and/or structure -property relationships for developed products.
  • Develop and retain a staff of high-performance technical professionals.
  • Prioritize technical projects supporting the defined business objectives.
  • Engage suppliers for technical support, raw material selection and specification management.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials science or related field.
  • A graduate degree in one of these disciplines is a plus.


  • 7 years of relevant industrial technical experience
  • Experience should include a role as an independent researcher with responsibility for product development, technology development or product line support
  • A minimum of two years of experience supervising technical staff is preferred

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated expertise in the organization, planning and prioritization of multiple projects with varying time-frames and levels of importance.
  • Proven track record working with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Sales, Finance, Purchasing and Operations to deliver defined product development activity.
  • Demonstrated skill in team facilitation, leadership through influence, consensus building and communication.
  • Chemistry formulation experience in water-based coatings, textured finishes, cementitious materials, adhesives, colorants and/or assemblies of such.
  • Ability to design and analyze experiments preferred. Prior exposure to commercial and residential building codes and requirements preferred.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate technical risks that jeopardize the success of a project preferred,
  • Ability to mentor team members through collaboration to elevate the technical capabilities preferred.
