Job Description

HR Generalist

The human resource generalist is responsible for providing a wide range of HR support and may carry out responsibilities in the following areas:  compliance, policy administration, employee relations, performance management, affirmative action, employment law and new hire orientation and training.

Duties/Responsibilities, Core knowledge:

  • Develop, analyze and maintain accurate job descriptions.
  • Coordinate new hire orientation and onboarding.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding policies, procedures and programs.
  • Assist with employee relations matters.
  • Assist with Performance Management and Employee Development
  • Assist with development, coordination and/ or facilitation of training programs. 
  • Administer employee referral program
  • Initiate the workers’ compensation process upon receipt of safety incident notifications and coordinate processing of the claim and return to work for employees.
  • Process and maintain regulatory customer requirements including employee background checks and drug screens.
  • Assist with coordination of all paperwork related to employee changes.
  • Maintain organizational charts.
  • May also have responsibilities in other areas of Human Resources including, but not limited to:  Compensation, Benefits, Employee Relations, Employee Development and Compliance.

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business management, psychology or related field, OR equivalent work experience.
  • Preferred experience in employee relations and compensation
  • Knowledge of employment laws and legal compliance
  • Must be able to present to small groups when needed. Must have prior experience conducting training or the strong willingness to do so.
  • Must be detail oriented with excellent follow up and proofreading skills.
  • Must be innovative and look for ways to make continual improvements in the HR processes that flow between HR, Recruiting and other departments.
  • Must demonstrate problem solving skills
  • Must demonstrate ability to lead projects or teams
  • Must execute high quality and high volume of work in a fast-paced environment
  • PHR or SHRM-PC preferred
