GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Optimization Manager will drive optimization, continuous improvement, and efficiency in the office activities of the purchasing and supply chain departments.  The manager will also have the responsibility to take on projects and run optimization scenarios that result in long-term, strategic gains. This function will also review the system and reporting needs of the department with the goal of finding automated solutions.   This position reports to the Supply Chain Manager and works closely with other key stakeholders in sales, marketing, operations, logistics, and finance to optimize and improve processes. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the design, development, and execution of opportunities to improve purchasing, distribution, and supply chain processes.
  • Drive opportunities across departments and create business best practices, where applicable.
  • Present optimization findings up to the executive level.
  • Assist the larger optimization projects through Tremco CPG as requested.
  • Collaborate with DC’s and Logistics to attain replenishment plans that optimize service levels and freight costs.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure business initiatives are set up to run optimally through supply chain.
  • Plan and prepare supply chain and operational analysis.
  • Develop strategies to enhance stock levels, replenishment, and redistribution of inventory.
  • Implement cross-over strategies between the Tremco CPG groups.
  • Develop a system optimization strategy to drive standards in how it is used.
  • Support Sales and Operations Planning actions as it relates to inventory, sales forecasts, and locations of inventory.
  • Develop detailed project plans, complete with tasks, events, and measurements, and works to identify resources needed and task assignments made. Follows up, reports on, and coordinates project tasks. 
  • Complete special projects as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or supply chain related field.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Four to ten years in a supply chain related role.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • ASCM certified preferred, or green belt desired.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must have experience leading a team and the S&OP process.
  • Demonstrated leadership and change management skills.
  • Must have strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail. Hands-on experience with ERP/ Demand Planning systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills focusing on teamwork and collaboration within all levels of the business.
  • Experience with off-the-shelf network optimization software, e.g. Llamasoft Supply Chain guru, a plus.
  • Previous SAP experience a plus.
