Job Description

Euclid Chemical is looking for a candidate with a strong science background, good technical skills and an eye for detail to join the team as an Admixture Synthesis Chemist.

The Admixture Synthesis Chemist will be expected to develop new concrete admixtures, optimize or improve existing formulations based both on performance and raw material cost savings.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Create new products and system-based solutions.
  • Lead projects and technology initiatives independently.
  • Make decisions as related to final formulations, raw materials and field trials.
  • Communicate technology concepts to external contacts, business and management teams; including Sales, Marketing, Vendors, Customers, Plant Managers and Purchasing contacts.
  • Work in coordination with external and internal cross-functional technical teams.
  • Analyze research and investigation data and develops methods for solving problems.
  • Synthesis of other polymer types such as Epoxy, Amine Adducts, Urethane, and MMA may be required or as needed to support Construction Products Group.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree.
  • B.S, M.S, or PhD in Chemistry

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience and expertise in cement, concrete, and other construction materials.
  • Relevant experience and knowledge of chemical processes for organic syntheses in a lab and plant setting:  Polycarboxylate Ethers, Polynapthalene sulfonates, Polymelamine sulfonates. 
  • Knowledge of ASTM test methods related to concrete Admixtures
  • Expertise related to emerging trends in geopolymers and cementitious composites.

  • Mathematical Skills: Intermediate ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
