Job Summary: 
The Commercial Business Manager (CBM) is a high-level leadership role and is responsible for the overall safety, development, operations, and financial profitability of the division. The CBM is responsible for managing and participating in the teams that will support all WTI Commercial Construction projects (including General Contracting, Patch & Repair, Inspections, Maintenance, etc). This will involve working with the Construction Managers, Superintendents, Supervisors, Foremen, and Field Technicians assigned to projects to ensure delivery safely, on time and within budget as well as selecting and managing all sub-contractors. The CBM will participate in RFQ responses, and work in cross collaboration efforts with other business units to help grow and drive engagement from other divisions and sales forces. 

Job Responsibilities: 
Duties will include maintaining all safety initiatives and protocol, participating in all proposals, specifications, cost development, schedules, and support in sales efforts for all WTI work. The CBM will review open projects to ensure planned profitability, forecasting and timely project closeouts. The CBM will participate in weekly toolbox talks with field employees, backlog calls and have weekly status calls with direct employees on open project progress, and any pending issues for resolvement. The CBM is responsible to communicate all initiatives and policy updates to all levels within the region. The CBM will spend a good amount of time in the field meeting with Employees, Sales & Customers. The CBM needs to have excellent communication skills, and be able to work with all personality types and have conflict resolution skills that prevents situations from escalating unnecessarily. The CBM needs to have a high level of construction project management background and understand how to build critical path milestones for projects and how to ensure they are met. 
Be responsible for contributing to, validating and signing-off on all proposals and specifications.

Be accountable for directing activities of Project Managers, Construction Managers and Superintendents as related to individual projects.

Be accountable for project cost/ budget variance & profitability.

Set project timelines and goals for multiple Construction Managers.

  • Manage key metrics and report on regular basis or as required.

Coordinate work with GC Senior Management Team, Program Managers, Sales & Service Support, Customer Management (WTI & Tremco Roofing), and Resource Management. 
Participate in the Preventive and Corrective Action process with responsibility and authority to: 

  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformity relating to service, process and quality.
  • Identify and record any service, process, or quality system problems.
  • Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.
  • Verify the implementation of solutions.
  • Control further processing, delivery, or installation of non-conforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.

Review all bids received conduct contractor interviews for specification and contractual compliance. Approve Proposals for submission (i.e. pricing, specification, scope) and contract compliance. Supervise Construction Managers, Superintendents, and Project Managers. 
Sign off on project expenses and billings. 
Responsible for change order negotiation and approval. 

  • Business Development Provide Sales support


  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) or equivalent from four-year college, (emphasis in Construction Mgmt, Engineering, or Architecture preferred); or fifteen years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in building Construction management.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Intermediate Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instruction furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


  • Knowledge of all Products and Services that WTI offers

  • Understanding of SOX, especially revenue reporting guidelines
  • Deep understanding of reading technical drawings and specifications related to Construction
  • Superior written, oral and digital communication skills
  • Ability to generate professional proposal documents
  • Ability to provide customer presentations
Computer Literacy
  • Working knowledge of word processing software, e-mail software and the use of the Internet
  • Proficient use of all Excel functions
  • Working knowledge of Progen strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of MS Project and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of SAP preferred
