Commercial Roofing Division Trainer (Construction Engineering)

We currently have an opportunity for a Commercial Roofing Trainer in our Roofing and Building Maintenance Division at our corporate headquarters.   We need a professional, engineering minded individual to help design and develop customized, complex, roofing specific learning solutions to address the needs and challenges of the Sales Representatives and our Sales Associate trainees. 

Duties/Responsibilities, Core Knowledge

  • Engages cross-functional groups and subject matter experts to develop and utilize a variety of innovative approaches and best practice methodologies to support sales, associate and technical field trainee development, learning and education, and skill based training.
  • Design and develops instructional materials (e.g., objectives, instructor and participant materials, video scripts, storyboards, E-learning, job aids, train the trainer materials and evaluation criteria) with established standards and methodologies.
  • Utilizes advanced instructional technology media and tools, included but not limited to E-learning (i.e. computer based training), video and web design software.
  • Supports the development of metrics, analyzes trainee challenges, and identifies trends and recommends value-added learning solutions.
  • Prepares comprehensive training strategies and implementation plans based on needs. Selects the appropriate learning delivery method based on audience, business needs, capacity, and budget and learning needs.
  • Manages content review process, validating learning objectives and course effectiveness.

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Construction Technology, or Engineering.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret roofing industry specific periodicals, professional journals, technical procedure manuals and other information.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the writing and management of construction documents. CDT preferred.
  • Working knowledge of roofing industry specific safety policies and procedures, as well as OSHA. Ten and thirty hour required, OSHA Contraction Industry Standards Trainer preferred.
  • Experience and understanding of the most current green building principles and practices. LEED Green Associate preferred.
  • Working knowledge of infrared camera and roof scans using infrared equipment and technology. 
  •  Previous experience with software programs with the ability to generate detailed roof plans. Minimum AutoCAD 97.
  • Communicate and demonstrate the ability to present material orally and in writing, in an articulate and concise manner; demonstrated ability to listen and process other’s points of view and able to answer questions.
  • Ability to enter roof assessments performed, prepare technical reports, roof specifications and details and generate detailed financial reports using the software.
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds and climb ladders a minimum of 20’.
