Job Description

Job Summary

Identifies, assesses and resolves problems concerning the environment. Ensures compliance with all environmental regulations and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Serves as contact with all regulatory bodies. Implements and maintains company policies adhering to environmental regulations.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Environmental Compliance – ensures all regulations are being adhered to through audits, report on findings and ensure compliance is sustained. 
  • Process development, change and implementation – leads continuous improvement initiatives including changes to procedures and policies affecting environmental initiatives. Works with all levels of the organization and regulatory bodies to ensure procedures are developed, trained and implemented.
  • Investigation of spills or releases - leads the collection of data, perform the root cause analysis, facilitate training and oversees corrective actions.
  • Industrial Hygiene - designs, installs, operates and maintains measuring apparatus to determine the level of pollutants involving air, land, and water. Performs qualitative and quantitative exposure assessments to ID hazards and recommend ways to protect employees through engineering controls
  • Support H&S Initiatives – work collaboratively with team to accomplish objectives in the H&S area of the department.


  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering or Science with a minimum of 3 years of direct experience in an applicable or related industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Licensed P.Eng or other applicable science professional development certification
  • Must possess advanced proficiency with MS-Office Suite including Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • SAP software experience and some programming knowledge is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience working with an ISO14001 certified company is a strong asset
  • Demonstrated communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated focused on results, with the ability to work independently as well as collaborate with the team.
  • Comfortable interacting with internal and external contacts and the ability to take initiative in building relationships.
