Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Technician to join The Euclid Chemical team in Cleveland, OH.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

As Maintenance Technician you will be expected to perform scheduled preventive maintenance and repairs, maintain parts inventories, submit purchase requisitions, and maintain equipment files. In addition to this, you will also be expected to regularly communicate status of requests/maintenance tasks as appropriate to operators, management, and other maintenance personnel. The 2nd shift currently starts at 2:00pm and ends at 10:30pm though hours are subject to change depending on business demand/need. 

As Maintenance Technician, as part of your main duties and responsibilities on a daily basis, you will:

  • Troubleshoot, plan, modify, and repair/rebuild all types of plant equipment
  • Perform basic electrical troubleshooting, repair and construction as required.
  • Perform plant preventive maintenance program tasks for mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Test new or repaired equipment to assure satisfactory performance.
  • Modify/fabricate as required using welder, cutting torches and various machines.
  • Keep equipment, maintenance shop, and job sites in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Work in accordance with OSHA and Euclid Chemical safety policies and procedures.
  • Work from ladders, lifts, elevated places, and confined spaces as required.
  • Document work completed; report job outcome/supplies used written and/or verbal.
  • Daily handoff/communications with other shifts.
  • Detail job status as appropriate to operators, management, and other maintenance personnel at end of each shift.
  • Submit requisitions for repair/replacement parts as necessary.
  • Enter MRO receipts in SAP system, maintain parts inventory/shop/equipment files/records.
  • Create Work Orders and enter hours into SAP system.
  • Lift up to 50lb as required. Heavier parts/materials will be handled using other methods.
  • Work with solvents, degreasers, lubricants, and other common industrial chemicals.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Regular hours/shifts may vary as production and maintenance coverage needs dictate.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.


Qualifications and Previous Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5+ years related experience and/or training
  • Experience rigging heavy components and operating mobile equipment (fork lifts,man lifts, skid-steer, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office packages - SAP a plus.
  • PLC and VFD knowledge and associated skill sets are a plus.

Key Competencies

  • Technical Skills: mechanical knowledge and use of common tools and gauges. Knowlege should include: troubleshooting, pump and piping repair/replacement, fabrication/repair using welding and cutting torch (essential), Industrial electrical and pneumatics, ability to interpret prints, schematics, manuals etc.

  • Communication Skills- strong verbal and written communication skills - must provide regular, consistent, and meaningful information- adapting as required to various recipients. Listens carefully to others and ensures message is understood. Ensures important matters are shared with all appropriate parties and communicates in a clear and concise manner.

Other requirements:

  • Must be flexible to work other shifts as business demand requires- the successful candidate will be trained on 1st Shift.
  • Must own required hand tools and appropriate storage for the tools of the trade.
