Job Description

Safety Product Specialist

The Safety Product Specialist will work with the Fibergrate team, Tremco sales team, training teams and product management to optimize profit and meet marketing, financial, and corporate growth objectives by performing the following duties.

Duties/Responsibilities, Core knowledge:

  • Participates in overall product strategy, research and development requirements, development, and manufacturing coordination for existing, new and emerging products.
  • Works with the outside sales team as well as the Fibergrate Safety Specialists (FSS) to ensure estimates/quotes, details, engineering and project support is provided and complete in a timely fashion.
  • Works with Fibergrate and Tremco Product management to develop and design training for the FSS and Tremco sales teams.
  • Conducts marketing analysis to develop product definitions and trends.
  • Collaborates with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales, engineering, marketing, manufacturing, and operations to develop and provide product definitions responsive to customer needs and market opportunities.
  • Develops and maintains a prioritized list of customer and market requirements for products.
  • Coordinates and develops marketing, sales, engineering, and financial plans for product line.
  • Provides financial and technical justification for product selection and definition.
  • Prepares product development objectives and schedules for all phases of product development and introduction to market.
  • Conducts market research and identifies and tracks market trends in company's industry.
  • Produces competitive analysis materials comparing product with its key competitors.
  • Identifies partnering opportunities for complementary third-party products to broaden company's product line.
  • Establishes dealer networks and creates and manages alliances with manufacturers.
  • Participates in key sales situations for the product.
  • Maintains communications and contacts to collect and analyze technical, financial, schedule, and sales information for product line.
  • Responsibilities will include any and all responsibilities deemed necessary by the Director of Market Initiatives.

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and five years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of product/market management experience and/or 3-5 years of experience in sales, marketing, R&D, technical service or manufacturing, with strong direct customer contact.
  • In-depth technical understanding and extensive hands-on knowledge of applications of products.  Intimate knowledge of product line. 
  • Must have interpersonal versatility, well developed business acumen, and highly developed planning, problem solving, negotiating and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, sales and marketing staff, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Exceptional ability to analyze data and discern trends.  Ability to think creatively in order to address customer and product issues.
  • Ability to write/edit reports, business correspondence and marketing collateral. Ability to present information and effectively respond to managers, customers and sales / marketing staff. 
  • PC literate, with working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.
  • May require occasional overnight travel.  May also be required to visit Tremco plants and/or customer facilities.
